Well, it’s finally happened; NASA has admitted that the sun is a variable star, and that changes in solar irradiance may well effect the Earth’s climate.

Old Man Winter is here in America, and with a vengence! The Fruited Plain has become the Frozen Food Plain, with temperatures dropping precipitously low and snow blanketing much of the continental U.S. The question on everyone’s mind as we shiver through the longest cold snap in over a decade is “whither global warming?”
It certainly isn’t in the United States, where we are experiencing 1970’s style global cooling.

Does anyone remember Wei Chyung-Wang? He was the professor at State University of New York, Albany who, along with people from the East Anglia Climate Research Unit (CRU) was caught faking data sets to show global warming in China (1). Wang was in good company; James Hansen’s Goddard Institute (GISS) has been subject to several “iffy” incidents, including publishing September data in October in 2008 then proclaiming the warmest October ever, and quietly altering datasets that showed 1998 was NOT the warmest year on record in the United States. We had the National Snow and Ice Data Center “losing” a chunk of ice the size of California, as another example. GISS was able to claim stupidity in these instances as was the NSIDC, and Wang was marginalized as an isolated incident.
But then came the grand CRU scandal, in which e-mails hacked from the university computers show a willful, intentional attempt to distort raw data and marginalize the work of scientists that do not agree with Global Warming.

NASA is reporting a spike in cosmic rays (1) as a result of the very quiet sun. Cosmic rays are protons and other subatomic particles that result from (usually) cataclysmic interstellar activity (like supernova). Normally these particles find it difficult to penetrate the heliosphere, that region around the sun where magnetic activity is high and the solar wind (itself a stream of charged particles coming out of the sun) “blows”.
The sun’s magnetic field is down to 4 NanoTeslas, or down about a third to a half (normal range is 6 to 8 nT`s).
During active solar periods, the solar wind sweeps cosmic rays from the heliosphere in much the same fashion as rain helps get rid of air pollution; the particles “drip” steadily, striking the cosmic rays just as the raindrops strike the floating particulate and make it fall. During the recent Grand Solar Maximum the high rate of solar wind swept the cosmic rays out much like a broom sweeps out a dusty room.

These are the last days of the theory of anthropogenic global warming.
I`ve been arguing for a considerable time that the sun is the driving force for climate change of all sorts, and the usual reaction from the Gang Green is to point out that variation in solar irradiance is too small to cause the variations we see. (Of course, they are happy to accept miniscule variations in a trace gas in the atmosphere as the cause.) Because the extra output in light cannot explain the 1* warming worldwide, the GW alarmists triumphantly point to carbon as the villain.
But, as I`ve also argued, there is more to solar output than the light spectrum; the sun puts out magnetic fields which are only now showing themselves to mankind, and along with those magnetic fields there is the solar wind, a stream of charged particles spewing forth from the sun. Our understanding of how this effects the Earth`s climate is unclear, and completely ignored in all of the current climate models being bandied about as “proof” that human industrial emissions are destroying the planet and giving Mother Earth a “fever” (she seems to have gone into remission).

I never thought that the Tunisian Desert Ant would encourage me to think about math.
Math was never my favorite subject when I was a young man, and ants were hardly something I spent much time thinking of either. In fact, when it came to mathematics, I used to tell people it was my worst subject in school. The assumption by those people hearing this, naturally, was that I did poorly in math. In the beginning, that assumption was accurate. Sometimes I did do poorly in math. In the lower grades I struggled greatly with the subject - but not with the concepts, but with the task of completing homework assignments. Not doing my homework, then, meant I was not doing the work that would have encouraged the “how to” angle in regards to calculations to click in my brain, which meant I was not learning the material. One can only digest so much calculative abilities from a short period in class, listening to a lecturing teacher that was usually drier than Ben Stein in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Threats of mandatory vaccinations for the H1N1 vaccine are cropping up in a number of states. One wonders, however, if the vaccinations are being planned to protect us, or to create the pandemic the Leftists so ardently desire?
The World Health Administration states that it is common procedure to release pandemic viruses into the population in order to get a jump ahead of the real pandemic, so as to fast track the vaccine for when it is needed. This leads to question if the current rise in cases of H1N1 is the result of the virus being released on purpose, and will the cases rise dramatically once the vaccinations are being administered?

In Southern California there are a number of fires raging. A few in Riverside and San Bernardino counties have burned thousands of acres, but the most fierce of the current fires is on the northeast side of Los Angeles, burning in the foothills that separates the L.A. basin from Santa Clarita.
The Station Fire doubled in size yesterday, destroying 62 structures, 53 of which were homes. Numerous evacuations are being enforced as the tremendous flames tower over residential neighborhoods on the northern and southern edges of the fire. The areas affected include the densely populated foothill communities of Altadena, La Canada-Flintridge, Glendale, La Crescenta, Tujunga and Sunland in the south to the high desert ranchlands of Acton to the north.
Firefighters have come from all parts of California, including many companies down from Northern California, to battle the blaze that has been inching down toward about 300 homes near the Angeles National Forest.

The elitists of the leftist global order would like to take your kids from you. They plan to take advantage of mass quarantines and mass vaccinations to do this, if we let them. H1N1 is the global emergency they’ve been waiting for, a catastrophe engineered over generations, carefully prepared by powerful and influential globalists to take the next step in controlling the population.
Are we getting ready to be forced to face mandatory Government Orders to get vaccinated with the H1N1 Vaccine? Are we on the verge of total Government Control over our lives while they claim it is simply to keep us safe from the rising epidemic? Could the government use quarantine to take control of political dissidents?

Attempts to solve global warming will kill a lot of people.
I came up with a bumper sticker slogan for those who believe that Global Warming is not a planetary emergency, and that the the cure will be far worse than the disease:
“Blood Flows when Carbon Goes”
The point, of course, is that nobody has ever been documented to have died from global warming, but it is easy to show that many die when the economy tanks. The goal of the Gang Green is to roll industrial emissions to levels below those of the 1990`s. Well, what does that mean? The world`s population has risen - and will continue to do so - yet we are supposed to walk backwards to a pre-90`s industry. Efficiency and green energy is only capable of accomplishing so much, and, frankly, the computer revolution may have greatly increased efficiency in most industrial processes, but it has largely reached the end of the line in that regard. Green technology, too, has never been good for anything but smaller scale energy production. It is fine for homesteaders who don`t mind occasional blackouts and who simply want to run a few low-watt lights and the like, but it hardly helps to run an industrial society. Without a major breakthrough green energy will remain a will-o-the-wisp, much like antigravity or practical cold fusion.
